Co-Curricular Theatre & Production
Students in Senior School can audition for main stage roles or learn hands-on technical skills in lighting, sound and stage management.

  • Professional Venues: Rehearse and perform in the 600-seat Flinders Performance Centre, 120-seat Drama Theatre or intimate 90-seat Experimental Theatre.
  • Tours & Masterclasses: Travel to arts capitals for hands-on workshops and exclusive access to signature theatre companies. The recent Melbourne tour was a huge success, with behind the scenes theatre experiences and masterclasses.Ìý

Musical Productions

Leading the Flinders Dramatic Arts Co-Curricular Program is the Director of Dramatic Arts, Mr Andy Fraser.

Secondary School Productions

Each year, the Flinders Dramatic Arts season features seven development opportunities spanning a major College musical production, a Shakespeare on The Green piece, theatre plays, a cabaret, a dance showcase, a Youth Theatre production and a tour.Ìý

The College's epic productions have included Mamma Mia!, Chicago, Legally Blonde, Anastasia: The Musical and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Students have also embarked on dramatic arts tours to Melbourne and Perth, and have enjoyed top-class mentoring from artists in residence at Flinders, including Warwick Doddrell, assistant director at Opera Australia, and award-winning playwright, Donna Hughes.

Youth Theatre Program (Years 5 and 6)

In the Flinders Primary School, we introduce younger students to the stage through fun, high-energy foundation programs:

  • Youth Theatre: Develop auditioning, singing, dancing and acting skills tailored for Primary students, culminating in live performances.
  • SCISSA Arts: Participate in co-curricular musical productions as part of the Primary sports and activities framework.

Dance

The College offers aÌýdance development programÌýacross Years 7 to 12, with more than 20 students exploring a range of styles from lyrical to jazz and contemporary.Ìý

Students train to improve their skills and also to compete in dance eisteddfods, competition and the College productions, such as Chicago and Mamma Mia!
